Coming Out of Hibernation
The season of hibernation is nearing its end. Loss and the process of letting go is a natural part of life. We can allow our losses to transform us and define who we are. How do you want to sprout up this spring?
There are many types of sermons available, depending on the message that we would like to communicate to our congregation. Here I share a few tips on how to prepare better sermons quicker.
Don’t VacillateJames 1:8 says, ‘A double minded man is unstable in all his ways;’ not some ways but in all his ways. This Bible says that a doubtful mind (or double-minded) is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind (James 1:6 TLB). Yesterday, you heard him shouting, ‘I am rich!’ and today when things aren’t as good you’ll hear him say, ‘I am so broke.’ In other words, he’s full of ‘double talk.’ He’s double-minded.
The Messianic Secret Motif (Mark’s Gospel) And Its Application For UsThe gospel of Mark carries the Messianic Secret Motif. In other words, Jesus is found to be actively trying to withhold his identity as the Son of God for the appropriate time. Come, as we explored one aspect of its application for us.
Vulnerable & Teachable – The Paradoxical “Position” You’re Missing Out OnSelf-Awareness. The very platform and basis of Emotional Intelligence (EI) is also the thing you’re almost certainly missing out on, at least to some extent–it’s something almost none of us more fully capitalises upon.
In today’s times, having spiritual wealth is very important. Somehow, we all seem to have forgotten what having inner peace is like. We’re so used to seeing drama all over the place that we begin to see it as the norm.
Self Cherishing Mind – People Can Feel ItWhether we speak nicely or speak softly, the words carry meaning. And when it’s done over, over and over – if it’s positive, people will love you more. If it’s negative and people don’t like you, don’t run, don’t hide, don’t cower – it’s you, it’s you. So, some people are very nice to us, but their actions don’t follow their words. It creates distrust, anger and disgust in other people.
Wisdom Calling – Your Answer?Wisdom and the living of life, these cannot be split. Wisdom is calling, what’s your answer? Will you live with her; will you take her in, adopt and own her?
Carnality – A Permanent Condition Or Temporary Behavior?I was recently in Bible Study and the story of Abraham and Lot was the topic of discussion. Basically, Abraham was a righteous man of faith who trusted God’s Word and Lot was said to be a believer as well; but, a “Carnal Christian”.
Getting Pride Under ControlStuart writes about the place of pride in the life of a believer of Jesus Christ. He likens pride to “spiritual cancer” and discusses the impact of it on one’s live. He concludes with some practical advice on overcoming this human tendency.
Pick a Side and Make Sure You’re Right!Which kingdom are you in today? Jesus gave an analogy in Matthew 13:28-30. Wheat and tares are identical. A tare is an imitation of wheat but is a weed.
Persistent PrayerWe must enter into a meaningful dialogue with Him, opening fresh channels of intimate conversation. We must be diligent. Even when we are tired, feeling low, and miserable, we must pray. When we are joyous we pray. When we are busy, we must make time to pray, for nothing takes precedence over our conversation with God.
