God is a god of plenty. In the Old Testament he often referred to Himself as “El Shaddai”… Sometimes translated as “The God Almighty” or “The God who is sufficient”, meaning that He alone was sufficient to supply all of our needs, with nothing missing. He wants us to live abundantly, and not in lack!

Have you ever heard the expression “it is what it is”? What does that expression mean exactly? Before I understood the deeper meaning of this expression, I envisioned an emaciated yogi guru in the lotus position floating above the ground imperiously imparting wisdom that would take scholars multiple lifetimes to interpret.

When we refer to gay spirituality we aren’t necessarily referring to a “gay church.” We, as a community, were often subject to the teachings of our own childhood churches that found us to be completely unacceptable in our current state of being. This naturally led to a falling away from the church, but not necessarily the end of one’s spirituality. You can take just a small step, for the journey is great and long, but well worth every step.

Even with all the great communication devices we have today, the challenge of being in contact with the Great Divine is greater than ever. But in that connection is where happiness resides.

Your spirituality is an area that many people forget about when trying to achieve life balance. It may seem almost natural to separate that part of your life from everything else. In reality though, your spirituality should be the basis for all the other areas of your life.

I’m often asked what I mean when I refer to spirituality or soul in the context of life at work, at home, at play or in relationship. Here’s what I mean. For me, soul or spirit (and I will use them interchangeably from here on) describes the Essential, Innate Force or Energy that lives inside every human being. Being soulful or spiritual, then, means living one’s life according to a deeper meaning that results from a lifelong practice of self-reflection, inquiry and exploration.

What is the difference between allowing and accepting? On the surface these two ideas seem the same, perhaps because they are close cousins, but understanding the difference between them can make a world of difference in your life.

The idea of surrendering makes some people feel very nervous. They have this false belief that they are actually in control of every aspect of their life and the thought of giving up that control causes panic and fear, so they ignore the necessity of surrendering.

Please imagine for me, entering the life after this one… meeting God. We think of him asking us the abovementioned title as a question: ‘How’s your prayer life?’ Stony silence… It seems like an eternity for us to answer; this is because we realise something very harrowing as we deliberate upon our answer. Scripture says, “Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal.” (Matthew 6:20) During this recession you will not be touched because God is your source and not your job, your bank account or your 401K; know that God is the infinite source of your supply. You are destined to be abundantly provided for as a child of God, heir to God’s kingdom of unceasing support and supply.
