Having been writing on that most moving and profound prayer of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in Chapter 17, in the Gospel of John, this article is based on what happened next in Chapter 18. Much of this week has been spent teaching the disciples. From Chapter 12, Jesus has washed their feet and answered their many questions. He has celebrated the Passover and has taken bread and wine and given that new spiritual significance to these two ordinary elements.

Having spent most of that evening with His chosen men in the Upper Room, and having prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus Christ is then betrayed and arrested. At that point, Jesus is then bound, and led away to Annas, and illegally tried.

Just a short while or ago, Peter was swearing his love and loyalty for Jesus Christ. Peter did more than any other disciple, but not enough. Peter went further than any other disciple, but not far enough. He was the only one to stick up for Jesus, but it was so very wrong to become involved in this reckless sword play, with 200 soldiers present. This is the impulsive rash Peter. Violence only breeds violence. This battle has to be fought out on a spiritual level, not just physical. Peter is forgiven, restored, filled, anointed, and empowered for service. He emerges from all this, a mighty leader, and we can learn many lessons from that later aspect of his life too.

When a person attains a certain level of cosmic insight without properly realizing the how, when, where, or for what purpose of that ‘supposed arrival’, he is actually in a state of more confusion than before having ventured down the self-realized path. The questions have not subsided but increased.

Mode of cosmic therapy: how we fool ourselves into believing our desperate images. When one is born into this level of existence (dimension), he is born completely enveloped in innocence. Children, for a short while, possess true innocence.

Some say that the government’s Cash for Clunkers program was a big success. Nearly a half a million cars and trucks have been sold; a real boost to the economy. But what about people who see themselves as a clunker?

It is like one beggar telling another that there is food in that house, ‘go and get some’. We do not share from an arrogant and holier than thou attitude. Most of our witnessing has become just that. We do not share it with others from love. We share in order to impress our church. Knowing and doing the will of God as an experience should reflect in why your share.

Our bodies have parts and functions. Our legs have their function and role, so are the hands, eyes, ears, and nose and mouth etc.; they do not duplicate each other. They do their functions. They know and do what they are supposed to do. How wonderful it will be if each Christian knows her or his role in the body of Christ and function. Knowing and doing the will of God helps us do precisely that.
