Get Off Your New Age Pedestal

It was such a profound moment and I realized it was time to step off my new age pedestal and back into my humility and humanity. All these light workers waiting for their moment to shine and what they cannot see is the little acts of random kindness building one on top of the other.

Forgiveness – A More Selfish Act Than a Noble One?

The term forgiveness is familiar to virtually all people, yet it is very likely that few truly understand its real meaning. Most individuals tend to regard forgiveness as being a truly magnanimous gesture on their part: one that is undertaken on behalf of the other person. Moreover, those individuals who, as rule practice forgiveness in their lives, tend to be viewed as upstanding human beings of great moral or spiritual fiber. While some folks may merit such lofty praise, the startling truth is that at its most fundamental level, forgiveness is more a selfish act than a noble one. Extending forgiveness to someone is selfish in the sense that it is actually more beneficial to the person doing the forgiving, than it is to the person being forgiven. The reason for this is quite simple – a sincere act of forgiveness allows us to release negative energy (i.e., excessive levels of adrenaline, other stress hormones) that can literally become toxic to the cells within our bodies.

Doctors and Christian Science

Thought, saturated in opinions, loses direction and wanders down a dead end road. Opinionated attitudes automatically dismiss, or withdraw from, advancing good ideas. However, thought committed to a spiritual truth will not only make progressive decisions, but also act on them.

Declare What He Has Done

The text for today is Psalm 66:16-20…”Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. (17) I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. (18) If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me : (19) But verily God hath heard me ; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. (20) Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.”

Is Your Life Barren and Unfruitful?

This morning I struggle as many of you do on a daily basis with being patient through trying times. It seems easy to sit back on days that everything is going fine, and let God lead us along. What about the times when things aren’t going the way you want them to? What about when you know what is the best for the situation, but can’t make it happen?

Your Life is Hid in Christ

I don’t know about you, but the last couple weeks my email inbox has been filled with political emails of folks overly concerned about our pending elections. Now, don’t get me wrong, we are in a very crucial point of our history, but are we letting our concerns about the election outweigh our concerns for the lost?

God Doesn’t Need a Superman

Earlier this week, while reading one of the many devotionals I read, I was struck by a quote…”A superman would have made it look easy. It took an ordinary man to make it look like God”…That quote has gone over and over in my mind. One of the stories that was brought to my mind was of David and Goliath.

A Spiritual Perspective on ‘A Reason, a Season, Or a Lifetime’

Below is a slightly modified passage which has always resonated with me because it illustrates the significance of understanding and accepting that people come into our lives for different purposes and for differing amounts of time. When we become still and tune into our intuition, we gain insight into the nature of those reasons and how we might embrace these peoples’ presence in our life more fully. People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
