Pastoral care of dying is a specialized type of ministry to dying individuals and their families, relatives, and friends. The caring pastor is a symbol of religious faith and an active spiritual life. Around the death experience, his or her presence and tangible ministry are much appreciated and welcomed by all communities and cultures. The pastor represents assurance, comfort, and hope in a time of great uncertainty, transition, and need.

One of the downsides of the very opposite problem the Corinthians faced – the highly organised church – is there’s perhaps little or certainly less opportunity for congregants to share something that God has placed on their hearts, publically, before the throng. Our ‘orders of service’ are at times too well organised. There needs to be a balance struck between formality and felt community.

Victory in all sphere of life is the aspiration and desire of all humans. We often see life as a battle field and likewise the mind as a special battle ground with lots of battles going on daily basis. We strife everyday to win! I once preached to a cross of students on campus on Battling with Battled Battles: The Joy of ending well, and on this message, my emphasis was that life is battle and only the strong can win. What are to face, we may not know; how to fight and win, we may not even understand but the bottom-line for we Christians is that we are fighting from victory and not for victor because Jesus Christ has won all battles.

When performing real spells and other magickal work, there is often a need to offer libations to the gods and goddesses of your chosen craft. For these rituals, a chalice is necessary. The Chalice or goblet is a cup, usually made of glass, wood or metals like silver, pewter, stainless steel, copper or gold.

For the past few years, it appears that critical events have been directing us to choose Grace, Spiritual Perception, or else continue to experience increasingly tragic events. However, events have always directed us to choose Spiritual Perception. And for a time we do, and then habit takes over and we forget. The habit of thinking we are human, and not the Idea of God, once again directs our daily lives. We stop listening until another critical event occurs.

In 1 Corinthians 12:10 it is written that the Holy Spirit gives to some individuals the discerning of spirits: the wisdom in making keen judgments, the ability to discriminate and perceive with insight, and to recognize or identify good and evil in a separate and distinct way. Spiritual discernment is a subjective and experiential ability to understand and interpret a religious experience and spiritual condition. The seeker of God, in humility and love, desires to be led by the Spirit in all ways (Gal. 5:18; Rom. 8:14). This religious experience strengthens the awareness of believers as “the children of God” (Rom. 8:14-17), forming a dependency and interactive communication with God through prayer and action.

Fall Equinox is the Western most balance point between night an day, dark and light. Here we honor the Mother as she makes way for the Crone, the Goddess of the Harvest and the beginning of our annual journey into the shadows once more.

Only recently I wrote an article titled “Achieving Total Freedom” and, I love this, God told me more of the story; there is another side that counterbalances the ‘total’ side. Of course, we all know there is more to the subject of ‘freedom’ than some pipedream of a reality that works sometimes and not during other times.
