Learned about how the system has spiritually dumbed us down. It feeds us intellectually but deprives us spiritually causing us to be malnourished, stagnant, ignorant, weak and afraid of our divine potential greatness within us..

Writing about spirituality can be sensitive. By not writing about it, I would deny each of you access to questions and thoughts that can help you truly fulfill your purpose in life. I am not talking about the politically correct, watered-down version of spirituality that typically refers to our core values; I mean the foundational beliefs on which our lives exist and function.

Generally when someone does not know what their purpose in life is they seem to content with the very same problems over and over again. It is almost like running blindly into a brick wall. Some individuals stumble across their life purpose; others fear it, others may be trying to fulfill the life purpose imposed on them by others and some individuals willing choose to live their life without any type of purpose in mind. Are you searching for steps to find your life purpose?

People ask me what is meant by self-acceptance – I mean, what is it really all about and how does one do it? My own belief is the following: To accept who you chose to be is found in the knowledge that God has no preference as to what you do with yourself; as you do come into this life with certain abilities, looks, etc. – the interesting and meaningful part lies in seeking perfect acceptance from yourself and not a perfect life.

Spirituality has nothing to do with religion, yet “religion” is a starting point for many who desire a deeper spiritual life. In my case, the “religion” of my childhood pointed me away from my own personal truth and spirituality. Yet, it also provided me with a forum in which to question, stretch, grow, dream, imagine, and finally start becoming a person who recognizes her own divinity, feels empowered, and is able to give and receive love freely.

With the stock market in free fall and our 401(k) plans reduced to 201(k) plans, the nation is being forced to re-examine some of the assumptions underlying a capitalistic, consumer-driven economy. One way to gain a fresh perspective on the current state of affairs is to reread the Good News for Today — the Gospel message.

It was said that one day, one of Jesus’ disciples came up to Him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” This statement is the starting point for anyone who wishes to touch the world through prayer. We have been taught many wonderful truths about prayer in our churches, cell groups, Bible Schools and seminaries yet our people still don’t pray; our people still find it hard to mumble even a simple thank you to God simply because we have started on the wrong foot.

“It is better to trust in the Lord, than to depend on human beings” – Psalm 118:8 God is very much interested in the affairs of the men and women that He has created to have dominion over the works of His hand. There are countless men and women who are still looking up to fellow human being to help them make head ways in life, but many has been failed because man is man and God is God.

I can’t help but notice so many people are paralyzed by fear at the moment. It makes me sad and I have to admit a little bit frustrated to watch brilliant, talented people limit themselves.

Remembering who we are is important, especially in times when we may be losing many of our possessions or assets that we thought defined us. They don’t. We need to know, however, what it is that identifies us. Writing a personal spiritual journal, or a personal memoir, may help.
