As someone who grew up in a Catholic family I now find it amazing how simple psychic experiences have been dressed up throughout time in confusing and disassociating ritual. Churches, crosses, books, vestments, and I’m not just talking about the Catholic church.

There are many voices rising and speaking things in the nation and in the church. Not only that, the same voices are speaking into your life and right now there is a serious demand for believers that have a spirit of discernment. The Lord Jesus warned us and said,” I go away from you and there are some who will come among you like wolves in sheep’s skin. Speaking of sheep, the sheep know their master’s voice and can distinguish that voice from a thousand others.

It does not matter whether you are in church or out of it. When you are born again, and spirit filled you have specific beliefs about God and the universe; and these help you to become empowered and to feel powerful. On the one hand the human potential movement has been empowering people for a long time now, with the rise and rise of inspirational and motivational speaking and writing. On the other hand the church has not been left behind as it fulfills its mandate of getting souls saved and empowering the converts with revelatory truths from the word of God. Many books have been written, and a plethora of ideas, philosophies and ideologies have been propounded about how you are a powerful force if you put your mind to it.

Repentance is all about forsaking the way that was wrong and beginning again a new way of life. Repenting and turning away from a life of sin is not about simply saying words about how bad you feel about the bad thing that you did back there. You do not acquire deliverance and it’s manufactured for you the time that you say to God, “please forgive me”, that is not the case. Your deliverance is a done deal. Jesus did it all on the cross, but you need His grace to walk in the power of that deliverance.

Mark Driscoll said in a sermon on the book of Philippians that “your theology influences your biology, resulting in doxology”. Essentially, what you believe about God makes you who you are, and who you are determines what you worship. This is my exposition of that quote.

The fellowship we’re discussing here is one of fellowship with Jesus Christ, God the Father – through Jesus – to the useful acquisition of the Holy Spirit; fellowship with God. But sharing in Jesus’ death so we’re resurrected into “newness of life” (Romans 6:4b) also says a lot about fellowship with others who’ve experienced the grace of the Lord, presumably through the waters of baptism.
