Dogma is belief that is not subject to self-criticism. It is for this reason that dogma must be continually tested and bombarded. Dogma would have us believe that it stands above criticism, that the very thought of criticism is blasphemy or blasphemy’s modern day cousin, politically incorrect. This is the nature of what occurs when we allow power to corrupt us. We seek to keep this power safe, and the safest place is a place that is untouchable.

I may not have all the answers, but I do know one thing. Our children must be able to look at our lives as an example of purity and Christ-likeness. If they can’t see the love of God at work in us where else can they go? I don’t allow my children to watch just any old thing… animated or otherwise. I feel that everything on TV is not suitable for their little eyes and ears.

Are we aware of the revealing moment? Do we participate in the process of discovery? Or are we like a leaf being carried through the current of Life, tossed about, passive victims of our circumstances? There are two basic human attitudes regarding being alive and these can be found in every culture, in all parts of the world, in all times in history.
