The Bible when viewed as an instruction manual, which it is really, and not a dictatorial treatise without allowances for individuality, teaches us ways we may gently progress without damaging our souls.

The Bible has much to say about the subject of the power of effect of prayer. I believe that almost every religion in the world agrees that prayer is vital to an individual’s spiritual well-being. Prayer is speaking with God. It is communication with Him. Prayer is connecting with God concerning His plans of purposes for our lives and it is seeking Him to meet our needs and help us with our dreams and goals. Prayer is saying to God, “I can never be all that I was created to do, attain all that I can accomplish or possess all that You have for me, so I need You in order to be fulfilled, complete and satisfied.” Prayer is approaching God with the desires of our hearts, trusting Him to move on our behalf.

We can do more damage with our tongues than the worst nuclear bomb could ever inflict. We need to arrest our desire to act without compunctions and give love instead of destruction. Life is all about choices, and where we find ourselves, is the deciding factor of whether we may work or not work on the Sabbath Day. Therefore, if we find we have to work on this day then it is really up to us to do our utmost to keep it pure and holy and all done with a smile of gratitude. Just because we forgive does not mean we have to like, entertain or even bid them the time of day.

Knowledge is power, but the pretense of knowledge is worse than simple embarrassment – it’s contempt of God’s court of life. It’s the slaking of desire to the rejection of the will of the Lord. Assessments, judgments and opinions – put them through the sieve of truth. This is something we should be able to claim we’ve learned most of all.

The Ten Commandments are the cornerstone by which faith is measured but understanding them is not found in idle chatter, random researching or indiscriminate discussions. As with all knowledge, we have to seek it exploratory fashion as we would with anything when we seek its origin and also to find where we are going.

In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus taught that the condition for us to be forgiven by God is to forgive those that offend us. There are many things God cannot do for you except you forgive those that offend you.
