When we talk about what it means to be a Christian many people believe that it is simply a matter of making a profession of faith and attending Church on a regular basis. Sort of like a fire insurance policy – say the right words, keep up the “payments” and that means that you’re free from the worry of hell.

The deaths of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and pitchman Billy Mayes has many of us seriously thinking about our own mortality. Most of us never consider our own mortality. Our own death is never thought about or discussed. In fact, the American culture is extremely afraid of death – so afraid that we treat it as if it will never happen. We go about each day expecting to awaken the next. While intellectually we know that death will occur for all things living, we act as if death has no hold on us.

Art begins with the desire for happiness, yet this goal often gets derailed because artists don’t cultivate this principle of being unburdensome. Musicians, for example, constantly feel under pressure to get people to listen to their music, come to their shows, support them financially, etc. And all of these pressures place an enormous burden on others, which leads, psychologically, to the development of defensive tendencies in the musician’s own mind. This, in turn, makes the artist see himself as “at war” with the world.

What does that mean — to experience an Angel? If I asked “Have you ever SEEN an Angel?” You might say yes, that at least you’ve seen pictures of them. But that wasn’t the question, was it?

In God’s word it states that there is life or death in the power of the tongue, but it is our Father that puts power behind the words! Just as He watches over His Children, He also watches over words that are spoken against us!

I truly feel I have been touched by an Angel many times in my life. Below is one way my Guardian Angel, as well as other Heavenly Angels, have entered my life and my thoughts.

If we perk up our spiritual ears and listen as we read the lives of the saints, little gems of inspiration can be unearthed and carried with us like a magic rock in our pockets. These nuggets are applicable in every time and century.

Thus saith the Lord, she will be clothed in my holiness and perfumed with my fragrance. She will take my fragrance reaching down to the whole world in this last and final hour. I will give to her my gifts and feed her with my fruits. I will make her strong and healthy for I will be her health. My words will be life to her and she would not go without them. She will hold on to each word of mine knowing that her survival depends on them.

Divinity or the Divine cannot be damaged in any way. Yet when we go after self-gratification, year after year after year, at the expense of the development and discovery of our Divinity, it is not good.
