They are quite simply complacency and despair. Such people would find it very difficult in Babylon, modern day Iraq, where Daniel and the people of God were taken captive under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, and they would find it hard to exist in the early Church too. Today the deadly menace of Nebuchadnezzar or the Emperor Nero is just as real.
