Daniel would go through his normal routine on most days, getting up and praying, being at work and praying, praying and going to bed. It appears at first sight to be of visions and revelations and dreams, and meeting angels and mingling with the royalty of Babylon. It looks like he experienced the supernatural twice a week, and yet, this book, remember only deals with a very few days in his very long life. Do not forget that Daniel would have many ordinary days, just as Jesus had many ordinary days too. This is the common experience of every deeply spiritual person. Peter and Paul know what was involved in routine as they travelled and dealt with various serious issues. Life is primarily a very ordinary business, even when we follow Jesus Christ.

Often in the way we felt we were no longer click to a community, we might feel better to walk alone. You can walk alone if it can make you happy. But do not tell bad things about our old communities, do not slander our old community. Because after all, we have spent some time together in the community, We have shared joys and sorrows. Do not blame a community if we do not get what we expected, blame our expectations because expectations will always create misery.

Most names have significant meaning, and it is important how we name people. In the Bible we see how God was so interested in how individuals were named and there were times when names were changed so that the significance of that person’s life and ministry would be fully recognised and understood. Abraham and Isaac and Jacob are vital illustrations and examples of the importance of names. When Mary was pregnant with the coming Saviour, Joseph was told that when He was born He was to be called Jesus, because He would save people from their sins. Jesus Christ still does this today. But, consider this faithful man Caleb. He knew how to hang on. There are lessons here for each of us.

Please do what you love. I’m not saying you need to do it for a living, though it is quite fortunate if you do. I’m saying you only have to do it for a few minutes per day, at least.

A life beyond facts is what we’re called heavenward for now. God stands eternally behind, in front, and all around the evil one. God has the answer as it pertains to those chiding rejections we face from a fractious world bent on our harm.

On a daily basis, five days a week, I receive information regarding the persecution of Christians around our world. Why does this happen on a seemingly increasing scale? Christians do not use bombs to try and get their way. Various governments keep a close watch on the lives and activities of believers in Jesus. Why? We know that in the lives of true believers in Jesus Christ, all these people want to do is bless those around and serve in what capacity they can. Christians use love and mercy and work with the power of the Holy Spirit flowing through them.

At the end of any one year – or anytime for that matter – we’re placed in a reflective vein. And perhaps for those who call themselves disciples of Jesus Christ there is a common finding: how far have we wandered from that much-cherished inner sanctum of God – our Holy of Holies?

There is a realm in God where God begins to take the believer into the revelation of His person. This revealing is what takes the believer into the depth of God’s love. We are living in a day when much of what the world would call ‘church’ has so devalued God’s Word and His presence, that…
