Most people have seen Freemasons symbols in architecture, literature and cinema, most likely without realizing they are symbols of the Craft. Many Masonic symbols are evolved from ancient practices, each bearing its own interpretation, be it of a practical, spiritual, physical or religious nature. Below are seven things you may not know about symbols involved in Freemasonry.

Accountability is first and foremost the responsibility of oneself to reconcile and realign self to expected standards of righteousness. Too many people would rather forego accountability and live independent lives; this was not God’s intention from the beginning. The purpose of accountability is to walk in holiness. There are many methods available to secure credibility and restore integrity. I came up with five common yet crucial methods of Christian accountability.

Why don’t people change in advance of trouble? Why does it always seem to take a calamity, divorce, firing, illness, disaster before people say, “gee maybe I’m stuck and not making myself or others happy?” Lets see.

Now we’re not talking small measure. The research is extensive. Your buying choices, brand selection, prejudices and alignments are mostly becoming preconditioned Pavlovian responses. It is one of the clearest indications we have that God thrives on our love. No, he doesn’t just thrive on it, but He relies on it and we rely on it. Without it, He must depart, for that is the law He created.

Our world teaches us plenty about who we are. Perhaps we see this in people, family, friends, colleagues, strangers and other visible creations of God. One way or the other we are looking into a mirror and seeing something new about who we are. There is another way of discovering new things about us and this is by examining the spirit within us.

It is clear that for one to get something, one must give something. For one to receive, one has to give. What you give determines what you will receive in return. The Bible says the measure you use to give is the same used for you to receive.

As people of God, we are a people of vision and hope. Without a fresh vision of our God, we will have no hope. And without hope, we will have no reason to live and die for. Knowing who our God is, if not the best, is one of the best preparations to face the new year ahead. Because through the Lord our God, we can face the future with bold confidence and living hope.

Our decisions apart from God – a.k.a. our wisdom – is foolishness. We go our own way myriad times to the most certain of peril. Let’s consider three salient very personal examples…
