In ancient Greek mythology, the hunter Narcissus gazed down into a still pool of water and immediately fell in love with his own reflection. This emotional attachment to surface reflections is a metaphor for our pseudo sense of self that we call the ego. It is the identification with this “phantom self” that inevitably leads to all human suffering. Learn to transcend your ego and you’ll be taking your first steps into a much larger world.

The world needs a practical spirituality; one that is relevant to the individual challenges that people meet every day, and to the largest issues facing humanity. Doesn’t it seem to you that many of the religions and spiritual paths offered in the world today rely on a belief in the fantastic? I’m not interested in an endless quest for the spiritual experience promoted by someone else, but unavailable to be experienced here and now. The world needs a practical spirituality, and so do you and I.

Reincarnation – a life after this life after another…What a wonderful thought that our soul is immortal and embarks upon a new chapter and learning curve with each successive human lifetime! There are many who intuitively feel that subsequent human births will follow this one. Others cannot consider the idea of ‘having to return’ to endure all they have had to this life and totally reject the idea of recycled souls as unfortunately the opportunity for fresh and brighter experiences.

Power is managing the Self, both physical and Spirit filled. Power is trusting that which you receive from Divine Source. There is only that which aligns you with Divine Source, should you choose to allow it.

When you find yourself being judgmental, what can you do? In the King James Version of The Bible, Matthew 7:1, we are told, “Judge not, that ye be judged.” What is so bad about judging others and being judged?

The goal of having a spiritual direction in life is the ability to live a spiritual life from the heart. Man’s eternal quest in life is basically to know and experience the Love of God and to then pass on or rather ‘give’ that feeling of love to our fellow beings.

Judgment, which is a subjective compulsive need to categorize things or people to confirm, justify or validate our beliefs or opinions, seems to be a very meaningful and useful tool to navigate through the ups and downs of life. Yet there is hardly any basis to judgment other than feeling inadequate, unfulfilled, or empty inside. Putting people or things into higher or lower categories stems from not feeling worthy enough. The need to pass judgments on people i.e. to see them as anything but pure Love, reflects the state of unhappiness or lack of completeness in our hearts. This makes judgment a misdirected energy that lacks discernment. Judgmental energy is responsible for all the conflicts and disharmony the Earth has ever witnessed. Discernment, on the other hand, sees that every person and every situation in life plays an import part on the game-board of life.

The author seeks to point men to the principles of faith and godliness that allow for, and sponsor peace. He does this stressing that the peace that Jesus gives is not automatic, but takes a knowledgeable and obedient cooperation with the believing person.
