God Calls Us To A Deeper Relationship
We all come to crossroads in our lives. A place where you make a decision that will determine the very course of your life. After you’ve chosen your path and traveled far, perhaps many years down that road, you look back at the crossroads and ask, “What would my life have been like had I chosen the other path?”
Barna Associates have researched the question of hell and discovered that 32 percent of adults see hell as “an actual place of torment and suffering where people’s souls go after death.” That means that two out of three of us fail to believe in a literal hell. The Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life reports that only 59% of Americans believe in some sort of hell, compared with 74% who believe in heaven.
God’s Grace: How We Trample ItWe often talk about God’s gift of grace. Grace is that undeserved favor and love that God gives so freely to us. What must God feel like when we reject his gift of grace? What does it do to the heart of God when we trample on his grace, when we take his gift, a gift of unlimited value, a gift that is precious because it reveals the heart of a God who loves us dearly, and cast it aside?
Your Strength In WeaknessWe have all seen ourselves fail to do the things we want to do, we have gone on to do the things we do not want to do. You will look back and see how stupid and crazy the things you did then but funny enough you can see yourself doing the same thing again. It is a human weakness that we have which needs more than just our abilities. Always there is a greater force we can call to for strength.
Are We Coming To the End of the World?Events taking place around us are causing concern among many people. The Bible tells us what to look for in the world before Jesus returns. Do current events match the predictions that the Bible warned us would come in the last days?
Heavenly Father, I thank you for being my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I trust, my shield and the horn of my salvation, you are my stronghold, my refuge and my Savior. I put my trust in you and you alone. I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praise, so shall I be saved from my enemies. II Samuel 22:2-4.
Stress Can Cause Untold Personal ProblemsBeing filled with stress can cause untold problems. That information alone should be a catalyst for you to adjust your thinking so that you can reduce it at all costs. This is where meditation, breath work and a strong effort to keep thinking in positive terms comes in. Often, from the side of Light, we hear people spend most of their days in a subconscious state of expecting the worst of everyone and everything.
Bravery Comes in Many FormsBravery comes in many forms. For some, it is courageously being on the front line of the military, protecting the majority of us who cannot be side by side with them. For others, their bravery is shown in how they deal with adversity in their own lives. The challenges can come in many forms, from relationship issues, to monetary, spiritual and most significantly, with physical health problems. How you handle it is vital. Who you talk to and lean on is just as valuable.
That Label Doesn’t Belong HereOne way that I make these trips marginally less annoying is to participate in a meme with my daughter and my friend Rich. We look for things labeled “Harvest….” that have no business being labeled harvest. I found a harvest label on a carton of cheese puffs. Rich found “Harvest Chocolate Pretzels.” And my daughter found a candle scent that was “Harvest Sugar Cookie.” Seriously, if you know a place where I can go harvest sugar cookies, hook me up. I would like to go there.
On Mediumship and Complimentary TherapiesWhat also isn’t sometimes appreciated is that those involved in mediumship and psychic healing are not by any means always stubbornly protective of their talents. On the contrary many trained, qualified healers offer classes and training courses to encourage others to create self-awareness and to promote well being. Sometimes these centre not only on healing and psychic awareness, but also on holistic, relaxing complimentary therapies including de-stressing and meditation techniques, and treatments such as reiki, ear candling and Indian head massage.
The BeholderMy husband is not a liar. Really, he’s probably the most honest person that I know. Yet for the longest time when he would call me beautiful, I simply couldn’t believe him.
Always on the Outside Looking In – Does a Bestselling Novelist Have a Spiritual Lesson To Teach Us?I was listening to a bestselling novelist speaking on the radio about his recent success in winning a major literary award. Among the many things he said which touched and amused me, the most striking was this, ‘I have always felt myself to be on the outside of everything, looking in.’ He gave this reply to the interviewer’s question, ‘Now you’ve won this prestigious award, do you feel you’ve arrived? Do you now feel you’re on the inside?’
